The Association Montessori Internationale
The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was established in 1929 by Maria Montessori and was guided for more than 50 years by her son and close collaborator, Mario M. Montessori. AMI’s objective is to uphold and safeguard the quality of Montessori training and the passing on of Maria Montessori’s heritage through her educational philosophy and methodology, including the materials and their presentation.

The Montessori Schools Association (MSA) is an all-encompassing professional association that supports Montessori schools and teachers throughout the UK. The association provides information, advice, subsidised training and networking opportunities to our members while raising the profile of Montessori education within government and with the public.
The American Montessori Society
The American Montessori Society (AMS) is a nonprofit education society founded in 1960 whose purpose is to help children develop their fullest potential through the educational principles of Maria Montessori. This includes the following: developing Montessori programs, accrediting schools, granting credentials, encouraging research, organizing seminars and symposia, and all other areas which relate to the dissemination of Montessori philosophy.
North American Montessori Teachers Association (NAMTA)
The North American Montessori Teachers’ Association (NAMTA), an affiliate organization of AMI, was founded in 1970 as an organization of Montessori teachers, administrators, and interested parents throughout North America. Its purpose is to maintain Montessori traditions and, at the same time, to be on the cutting edge of innovative education.
IMS aims to provide a network of support and resources for learning and practicing a scientific way of being with children that is committed to laws of nature. This approach is referred to as true natural Montessori teaching, since it brings about the child’s true nature as Dr. Montessori discovered in 1907.
The International Montessori Council (IMC) is a world-wide umbrella organization of Montessori schools and the men and women who lead them, own them, or serve on their boards. Its focus is on issues of concern to Montessori school leaders: administration, curriculum development, recruitment and hiring, supervising teachers and staff, insurance, finance, facilities, working with boards, recruitment, building community, fund raising, public relations, and so forth.
